Cricket’s Silent Majority Gets a Global Voice : CORE Cricket, the Development Initiative of IFCC, Unites the World’s Non-Professional and Corporate Cricket Ecosystem

CORE Cricket, a development-focused initiative of the non-profit ecosystem of the International Federation of Corporate Cricket (IFCC), has been launched to address one of the most significant gaps in global sport—the absence of structure, standards, and pathways for the world’s vast non-professional and corporate cricket population.

While professional cricket occupies the global spotlight, an estimated 85–90% of the world’s cricketers compete outside the professional system, across academies, universities, community clubs, semi-professional leagues, and corporate cricket. Collectively, this represents over 30 million active players worldwide, more than 150,000 academies and institutions, and a US$4–6 billion annual ecosystem—yet one that has historically operated without unified governance or global alignment.

CORE Cricket: Development with Purpose

CORE Cricket has been established as IFCC’s dedicated development platform, designed to bring clarity, credibility, and consistency to this fragmented landscape. Founded by globally respected cricket leaders

Geoffrey Cook, Mudassar Nazar, John Windows, and Shahzad Altaf, CORE Cricket integrates:

  • Coaching certification and academy accreditation
  • Performance benchmarking and player indices
  • Legend-led masterclasses and education frameworks
  • Transparent, cross-border development pathways

Speaking on the vision, Geoffrey Cook, Founding Member of CORE Cricket, said:

“For too long, the majority of cricketers have existed outside any global framework. CORE Cricket, as part
of IFCC’s non-profit mission, is about bringing order, trust, and opportunity to the middle layer of the
game—where most talent actually lives.”

IFCC: Governing with Impact

As a non-profit international federation, IFCC provides the governance, ethics, and global alignment that
allow CORE Cricket to operate with credibility and long-term purpose—particularly in the corporate and
non-professional segments, where players seek dual careers in sport, education, and profession.

Shahzad Altaf, Founding Member and former World Cup cricketer, added:

“This is not about commercialising the game—it is about protecting it. By giving non-professional and
corporate cricket a structured global home, IFCC and CORE Cricket are securing the future of millions who
play the game with passion but without pathways.”

Together, CORE Cricket and IFCC represent a new model for cricket development—non-profit, legend-led,
globally governed, and built to serve the silent majority that sustains the sport worldwide.
